| Nope
sorry no gossip but a great evening none the less.
With drinks purchased and a mixture of wine and
beer transported to the beach we set about combing
the soft sand for driftwood. Using the pine tree
needles for kindling it wasn’t long before
we had a fire guy fawkes would have been proud of.
Give or take a few coming and going we numbered
12. The scenario was almost surreal, they we were
with a roaring fire on the beach, sat crossed legged,
conversation in full flow with people we’d
only just met, but felt like we’d been friends
with for years. Conversation took a pause as all
of us took in the last few minutes of the daylight
and watched the red sun finally submerged beneath
the sea horizon. With the Atlas mountains of Morocco
across the water, the possibilities for the coming
days and weeks seem endless. The evening stretched
on to the wee hours of the morning at around 2:30am
we made our way from the beach back through the
woods and found are sleeping bags. |

OK,
we know that’s a big leap but the last few
weeks have been a test with not much to show or
tell about. We’ve been stuck here courtesy
of the Spanish postal service (or lack of). Although
both bikes are running we’d ordered spares
ready for the African Leg of our journey from
Motorworks in the UK who are supporting us by
generously given us a big discount . With the
most important package still waiting to be received
we’ve simply hung about. Tarifa is interesting
in small doses but of course the temptation to
spend money whilst were here is always present,
so not going into town is a safer option. Our
moods haven’t been helped with almost two
weeks of torrential rain and I do mean torrential.
We’ve regularly been swimming in the front
of the tent. Today we had our first bit of good
news in a while. Whilst hedging our bets we’d
contact a local BMW dealer who, although doesn’t
hold much bike stock had called to confirm the
parts we require have been ordered and will be
with him this afternoon. The prices are substantially
higher than Motorworks, unfortunately any savings
we would have made from Motorworks have been wipe
away based on the cost of simply being here. At
€19.99 a night it doesn’t come cheap.
This is of course frustrated by the fact the we’d
bargained by now to be in Morocco or even Mauritania
and so would have been paying much less to meet
our basic daily needs. Finally we’ve been
forced to accept that it may cost us more to wait
for spares from the UK. With this in mind we’ve
now paid for our spares here in Spain and can
now begin the packing up process and if all goes
well head off to Ceuta (Spanish enclave in Africa).
OK
so what did we finally manage to organize? Well
between Motorworks and BM in Spain we’re
taking the following:
