Remus Connecting Tube

The standard R1100GS is supplied with a catalytic convertor, which is housed inside a collector box. The collector box and end silencer are a single unit. This had to go, as not only did it make the bike sound like an electric toothbrush but also meant I couldn't use leaded fuel. In a number of the countries/regions Lisa and I will be visiting Unleaded simply isn't available.

The standard system was replaced with a Remus (straight through) racing silencer and a little while later the collector box was replaced with the Remus connecting tube. The exhaust system is now straight through from the moment the emissions leave the cylinder heads to leaving the silencer.

The connecting tube also weighs much less than the collector box, hey, every little counts. Of course the collector box was also great at making itself a target for every piece of loose crap, on and off the road. Getting rid of it was definitely a good move. Fitting the tube has also increased the decibel's created by the bike :-)
