Visit Our Original Bikes
Where are our original bikes?
Glad you asked. We've heard this same question ever since we revealed our new rides (courtesy of 4theoutdoors.com) and we're pleased to say we still have them and they have found a wonderful temporary home.
The idea of selling Tinkerbelle and Tarzan (the names for our original R1100GS and F650GS) was as ridiculous as it was impossible. C'mon, how could we possibly entertain the idea of parting with two stunning machines that after 450,000 miles have literally become part of who we are today!
From first buying these to wonderful machines, and clocking up those first miles, through years of pre-trip modifications and then a decade of on the road upgrades and adventures, our original BMW motorcycles have become part of our family. My mum (Simon) still refers to them as the 'Grand-kids'. I'd asked her once, why she called them this, she looked at my and pouted and said with a smile, they are your kids, besides, you love them and they're expensive, so really, they're just like real kids.
I'd argue both machines have their own personalities and I know for sure they've both earned the retirement they're currently enjoying. When we agreed the offer of our new bikes, we knew we were going to have mixed emotions about parting from Tink's and Tarzan and we knew they needed to go somewhere they'd be appreciated and cared for, until such time we can ship them back to Europe or find a permanent home.
Bob Henig owns one of the best BMW Motorcycle museum's Lisa and I have ever been into and we were thrilled when Bob, called us personally to offer them a place among his collection. Sat inside Bob's Vintage Motorcycle Museum, our bikes are surrounded by decades of BMW Motorcycling history and prestige. In a purpose built, and recently refurbished two-story complex, our bikes are parked with pride of place on the ground floor and there for you to enjoy.
If you fancy a day out or would just like to get up close and personal with two of the most recognizable adventure bikes on the planet, then calls BOB's BMW and let them know you want to drop by. The entrance is free and you'll be surprised and impressed with the collection of BMW Motorrad machines and memorabilia in the museum.
